Adventure
For me, Vietnam is all about soaking in the atmosphere.

The street vendors, the buildings, the crazy traffic, the smell, the food.

Every street is a colourful discovery.

Vietnamese Food

Fresh, with a lot of herbs, super tasty and not too spicy. Really suits my taste.

My 2 all time favourites: Bun Cha and Bun thit nuong (often called Bo Bun in the west).

Special mention to Cha ca, a fried fish specialty from Hanoi that I had for the first time, and was delicious too.

Charcoal pastry

Charcoal croissant and baguette seemed to be popular items across Hanoi bakeries ...

Thin buildings

Common in Asia, but Vietnam is where I have seen the most spectacular ones.

Apparently, in the past, taxes were based on the width of the construction.

Colourful streets

Min Juice

I usually like Juice shops, but this one was special.

The juices were better than at other places. You could tell that the lady was using good fruits and putting her heart into it.

I came back every chance I got.

On my last visit, I talked to the lady and found out she was really nice and dedicated to her work. She explained how she tries to make the most healthy food for her customers, and made me try some of her healthy preparations like corn juice, which was delicious.

10 days in a new neighborhood

I saw an airbnb in a new neighborhood outside of the city and decided to give it a try.

It looks a little shiny and superficial, but It was an interesting experience. For sure, there were no tourists here, and for me, that was a nice change from the old French quarter.

Villas close to the lake are definitely for upper class -- most were still empty, but the apartment buildings were full of families.

Protective clothing

Like in many asian countries, locals protect themselves from the sun when driving their scooter. And they don't joke around.

It may seem a bit much to us westerners, but once you experience a long scooter ride under the sun, you understand.
